Jesse (JD) Capps

   Jesse (JD) Capps, age 82, of Summer Shade, passed away July 30, 2021 at MonroeCountyMedicalCenter. Born February 10, 1939 in Finney, KY he was a son of the late Lizzzie Laura Melton and Willie (Bill) Capps.

   He was a salesman for Capps Associate, was a farmer, and preached at several churches. He attended and preached at Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he was a United States Army veteran.

   Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Jimmy) Brown, Horse Cave and Tabatha (Stacy) Jones, Summer Shade;  seven grandchildren, Makayle (Lindsey) Goodman, Stephanie (Brandy) Polston, Tylor Capps, Charity (Heather) Smith, Jasmine (Kyle) Glascoe, Chase Raney, and Kaleb Edwards; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and best and honored friend, Gerry Dennison.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents, were his wife, Gail Huff Capps; one son, Travis Capps, and two brothers, Gilbert and George Capps.

   Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at LickBranchChurch, with Brother Chad Hunt and Brother Paul Grider officiating. Burial will follow in the LickBranchCemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021 at McMurtrey Funeral Home, 4:00-8:00 P.M and at LickBranchChurch after 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.
